The 34-mile multipurpose trail that starts at Lake Placid and ends at Tupper Lake will serve users of all ages and abilities year-round. It will enable residents and visitors to enjoy healthy exercise, commune with nature, and soak up Adirondack history. Use this website to plan your trip.
The Adirondack Rail Trail is owned by the People of the State of NY and managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC). The Adirondack Rail Trail Association (ARTA) partners with NYS DEC under a Volunteer Stewardship Agreement (VSA) that addresses trail maintenance and amenities.
PHASE 3 from Floodwood Road to Tupper Lake is under construction. Public use is limited or restricted in this section due to hazardous conditions, construction or maintenance activity.
